Background
CCD staff have an established history and excellent working relationship with London Underground; our staff have, for many years, been embedded in the SSL Upgrade Programme (formerly managed by Metronet Rail). Fully integrated within the programme, CCD staff have undertaken lead HF roles supporting many of the SUP projects.
Project
The SSL Upgrade Programme is responsible for delivering significant upgrades to Sub Surface Line Rolling Stock, Track Assets, Stations, Power and Signalling.
Within the SSL Upgrade Programme (SUP), CCD have, and continue to support a variety of projects including:
- Service Control Centre Integration
- Service Control Centre Build
- Neasden Depot (Design, Build, Signalling)
- Signalling Immunisation (including CRMS, LVAC, Signalling)
- ATC Signalling Equipment Rooms
- ATC LVAC
- DC Traction Power
- Composite Conductor Rail
Implementation
Embedded within the project teams, and predominantly acting as lead HF advisors to the programmes of work, CCD staff are responsible for delivering a broad range of HF management activities and products to LU including:
- Management of HF work programmes and client management
- HF Integration Planning (HFIPs)
- Task Analysis (Baseline and Predictive, Operational and Maintenance)
- Environmental Performance Specification
- User and Maintainer engagement
- Target Audience Descriptions
- Training Needs Analysis
- Operational Demand Assessment
- Demanding Scenarios Development
- Alarms Management Strategies and Plans
- Design for Operation and Maintenance Advice/Guidance
- Experimental Trials (e.g. Control Room Mock-up Exercise)
- Development of HF requirements
- HF Assessments (Design Assessment, Factory and Site Acceptance Testing)
- Training Materials Development (Operation and Maintenance Manuals)
- Support to other Systems Engineering Disciplines (Requirements, RAM, Safety, V&V)
- Support to Commissioning and Handover
Outcomes
Embedded within the projects, CCD provide important, sometimes challenging advice to LU that helps to ensure the systems being implemented on the railway are safe, efficient, usable, operationally viable and maintainable.
