Human CAD Modelling
We use SAMMIE which is a 3-Dimensional human CAD modelling tool offering specific capability to those designing and procuring equipment and products for use by people.
The advantages of the system are:
- 3D analysis of fit, reach, vision and posture in a virtual world - no expensive mock-ups or finished products required.
- Reduced overall timescale - models are quick to build and assess.
- Early input of ergonomics expertise.
- Rapid interactive design.
- Improved communication - clear visualisation of the issues and solutions.

SAMMIE can be applied to a wide range of design projects from small environments like glove boxes, complex workspaces like vehicle cabs or larger working environments such as production lines.
What do we do?
We use SAMMIE CAD on our projects because...
- Allows an easy interface with design engineers - product concepts can be built within SAMMIE or imported from an external CAD system and rapidly assessed.
- A complete range of human manikins can be created to simulate any age, gender, nationality, and body shape.
- Ergonomics input is provided right from the concept stage of design reducing the likelihood of expensive or unfeasible modifications being necessary at downstream stages.
- The system promotes the exploration of a wide range of design solutions.
- The system supports the 3D analysis of complex tasks.
- The combination of product concepts populated with human manikins provides an excellent forum for all members of the design team.
